I used the update option and the update failed.

rpm -Uvh g-wrap-1.3.4-1.i386.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
        g-wrap = 1.2.1 is needed by g-wrap-devel-1.2.1-4
        libg-wrap-runtime-guile.so.2 is needed by gnucash-1.6.6-3

By uninstalling GNUcash I know I can get rid of that error.
What about the g-wrap-devel-1.2.1-4?

I have been in this situation before and found myself in a circular
dependency
that I could not get out of without breaking something else. That is what I
am afraid of doing here. That is why in my orginal post I ask for what steps
were taken to install GNUcash 1.8.1 on a R.H. 7.3. I still don't know what
needs to be do done to get this thing installed without breaking something
else.
