libgal question

I'm new to gnucash and am trying to install the latest rc (1.7.6).  Can 
anyone point me to instructions on how to install all of the required 
packages?

For some reason, when I install the libgal RPM, it still shows up as a 
requirement for Guppi.  It looks like it is installing okay, but a

rpm -q --list libgal.....

reports that the rpm is not installed and I cannot find the 
libgal.0.19.so (sp?) anywhere on my system.

Am I using rpm incorrectly?
