Quick question re splitting bills and borrowing/lending money

At some level, it's whatever works for the two of you.  My wife and I
make about the same (on a pro-rata basis anyway; my wife works
part-time).  We make pretty good money and after so many years of
graduate school (for me) and medical school (for my wife) when we
didn't have any money, even after 10 years, we're reasonably frugal,
so shared accounts don't matter.

Even though my wife and I have separate accounts *within* GnuCash, we
don't look into one another's accounts.  It's an honor system, but it
works for us.
