Gnucash multiuser remote (was Re: gnucash web interface)

Thanks for your reply.
If you meant "if each remote user is running GNU/Linux..." that doesn't
help me because as I said, not all are using Linux.
If you meant "if the GnuCash machine is running GNU/Linux..." and that
the others could use Windows-based X clients over ssh to start complete
X sessions and run all programs that you normally run on the local
desktop, I suppose that would work but is more involved than I was
hoping to get. For one thing, I am not aware of any Wondows-based X
clients (aside from commercial ones) so I wouldn't call that "anywhere
on the planet". And anyway, if my only viable option is to get ssh
tunnels into the picture, I would probably just pipe VNC through it
instead of X (just because I've had more practice with VNC than setting
my X server to accept remote connections).
Can you clarify which of those (or what else) you meant? And/or does
anyone else have any ideas for this situation where multiple users (some
with Windows) on a (trusted) LAN would like to update the same GnuCash
accounts?
For now, I guess I will try the postgres setup for the Linux machines on
the LAN and leave the Win machines out of the loop.
I was hoping that the rumoured web interface (which Derek debunked as a
false rumour) would mean that GnuCash listened on port 80 (or some
specified port) for http requests and served up some flavour of its UI
to anyone running a web browser, but I guess that was too wishful.
Would there be a low-resistance path to implementing something like this
given GnuCash's existing design? I'm thinking abstractly about XML
representations of the account tree and registers, and some <form> based
UI to make changes, though I don't know enough about GnuCash to know how
involved this would be. Then make it https instead of http and I think
you'd be able to address a fair number of small and medium business users.
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
