If you open your bank's register in GNUcash, then in the info bar at the
top (under the icon bar) there are several statistics for the value of
that account:
Present - the balance up to todays date of all the entries that you have
entered
Future - like present but includes transactions with a date after todays
(i.e below the blue line)*
Cleared - the balance of all entries (including future!) that you have
marked as cleared or reconciled
Reconciled - the balance of all entries (including future!) that you
have marked as reconciled
Projected Minimum - the lowest value of your balnce balance from today
including all future transactions*
*these will only include future scheduled transactions if they are
actually present in the register - use the 'create x days in advance'
option in the scheduler (you may want the 'Create Automatically' option
checked as well)
When reconciling, the 'Ending Balance' is only there as a convenience so
you can enter the balance shown on your statement (or on-line balance)
and see the difference between that and your GNU reconciled balance as
you check items off; it should end up as zero, if it doesn't the value
can help you track the error. But you can completely ignore it if you want.
You can mark an entry as cleared (i.e when you know the money has
reached / left you bank account) if you wish by clicking on the entries
'R' column in the register or by clicking on the entries 'R' column in
the reconcile window and then 'postponing' the reconciliation until
later (Menu: Reconcile-postpone)
Isn't that what you want?
