GnuCash 1.8.0-1.RH8.0 refused to enter transaction

I've discovered this is related to the dialogue which is popped up
when an automaticly entered SX is entered.  The first time I ran
GnuCash, it entered a new transaction.  The second time, when I ran
with --debug, there was nothing new to be entered.  I've repeated the
test today, both times *without* --debug, and the first time I got the
message when it entered a transaction, the second time I did not get
the message.
