Derek:
Thanks again for your help. I did configure, the last line said,
"GNOME-PRINT not found or wrong version." Do I need this if I do not intend
to print checks? I do intend to print reports if possible.
SEcondly, I did "make", came back, "no targets specified and no makefile
found."
I have the GNuCash 1.8.2 directory in /home/ray/Gnucash. There is a makefile
there.
I could find no other error messages in the configure portion.
I also tried "make all" and got the same response.
Thanks
Ray Salemink

I downloaded Gnucash 1.8.2. I am running Mandrake 9.0
I also installed the g-wrap 1.3.4. It seemed to go okay.
So, I do the ./configure for Gnucash, it goes okay.
Then, i type automake, it comes back with the prompt.
Then, I try make install, it says "No rule to make target 'install' stop.
What Am I doing wrong? THanks for the help, and the software and all your
time creating this program.

What you did wrong was run automake after running configure.
After you run configure, just run "make". And then "make install"

good so far ...

just "make" or "make all" would be correct...

this cause you didn't make anything yet.
