aotomatic copying

I am trying to set up a personal checking account using Gnucash. I am familiar with  Money which does not use double entry record keeping. Is it possible after posting an entry in the Gnucash check register to transfer all of the information  to the  an expense or an income account without re-typing the information?

I have seen some information in the help section called " FIXME" but do not understand it.
