Installing RedHat 9 with gnucash 1.8.1

Nope, just pull the RPM from http://people.redhat.com/notting/gnucash/
and upgrade away.

Correct.  Just make sure you install gnucash during the install
procedure to make sure the dependencies get pulled in during
the install.
