crashes when Report opened

Hi There,

This is another one of those Gentoo questions that have popped up lately.

I just installed Gentoo (replacing RH9). I emerged gnucash and all its
various dependancies came along for the ride. The emerge flags used to
compile gnucash were:
  [ebuild R ] app-office/gnucash-1.8.4 +nls -postgres +ofx -hbci +doc
Then I copied my account files back onto the new system. There were no
.gnucash, etc. files copied.

After running gnucash and setting the various config items the way I
like them, I was able to add new transactions to my existing accounts
without any problems. However, if I am in a register window and I click
on the Report button, gnucash dies a horrible death.

gtkhtml-ERROR **: gconf error: Failed to contact configuration server (a
likely cause of this is that you have an existing configuration server
(gconfd) running, but it isn't reachable from here - if you're logged in
from two machines at once, you may need to enable TCP networking for ORBit)

My home directory is NFS mounted from a server. That's the closest I can
come to being logged in from two machines at once.

When I look for gconfd, I find two likely candidates:
/usr/bin/gconfd-1
/usr/libexec/gconfd-2

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Should I just create a gconfd softlink to one of the gconfd-? files in
the /usr/bin directory?

Do you need any more information?

Thanks,
John
