Problem compiling src/core-utils

This error implies you have TWO versions of g-wrap installed and
it's finding the scheme for the older version.  Make sure you remove
ALL remnants of your older g-wrap.

As for your suggestion of including g-wrap, we've considered it but
haven't made a decision.

As for your question about other dependencies, well, our dependency is
"gnome 1.4" and very little else.  Indeed, there are NO new
dependencies on 1.8 that weren't in 1.6 (except a change in g-wrap
version).
