OFX files + Update

Hello,
 
I´ve been working with GnuCash for about 10 monts now, and first I would like to say that it is really a great tool.
 
Now the questions:
 
1) How do I update from 1.8.1 to the newest stable version (without losing my data of course)?
 
2) In my bank website I can download an OFX file. But today, with the 1.8.1, I cannot load this file. How to proceed?? I searched on the docs and found just how to do with QIF files.....
