SQL Errors

I'm going to start digging into this error but thought I would post it. 
  (Let me know if this might should be moved to the developers list).

I got gnucash rebuilt with --enable-sql.  Now I get:

ERROR:   is not a valid encoding name

(plus other errors but I think that is the root cause of the errors) 
when I try to do the initial save as.

If someone out there can say "Oh... thats XYZ" let me know.  Otherwise, 
I plan to dig into the source and see what it is attempting to do.

FYI: I have gnucash 1.8.8 and postpresql 7.4.1
