It sounds like an example of book closing. Many book-keepers like to
close books monthly.

I beleive that there is a menu panel somewhere that can get your
register windows to display unreconciled entries only. I forget
where this is in the collection of panels. I think this will get
you about 80% of the behaviour that you want.
