Want to be a gnucash user

Don't know if I shouldn't take this problem to the developer list but...

I want to become a gnucash user. I have and RH9 machine and I tried to
install the rpm, it failed with libgwrap dependencies so I looked for an
rpm to satisfy them, I couldn't find one so I went through the build and
install procedure on them and it still doesn't find them. So I decided
to build gnucash by hand, configure complained about libghttp, but I
couldn't find a libghttp>1.1 rpm (nor could I find the sources) but I
went ahead and built it anyway as it was not a fatal error for
configure.

The application built, but whenever I run it it crashes after displaying
the splash screen with the following error. If someone could take a look
and tell me what is wrong I'd be most grateful, I have been struggling
with this for a day now and am getting irritated with it.
