Gdk Warning

I compiled GnuCash in my own user account on my machine. I then created 
a new user for my bookkeeping. Whenever I open GnuCash as the new user, 
I get this message in the terminal window:

Gdk Warning **: locale not supported by C library

It doesn't seem to hinder the program (although I must admit I haven't 
done much with it yet, so I couldn't say what works and what doesn't). 
Anyone have any insights to this particular problem?
