Gnucash just stopped working

Debian Sid, kernel 2.6.4-1-686, GnuCash 1.8.8, everything works fine, after an 
apt-get dist-upgrade, GnuCash quit working, only the splash screen opens, 
then closes.
Error output is:

usr/bin/guile-1.6: relocation 
error: /usr/lib/gnucash/gnucash/libgw-business-core.so.0: undefined symbol: 
gncOwnerCreate
mike at debian:~$

I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling GnuCash, and also tried reverting to 
the previous release with no success.
Any help is appreciated.
