No, the problem indicated there hasn't been fixed as such.

In order to work around the issue, you should start gnucash with
'--nofile' [so your datafile is not automatically loaded], and change
the preferences so that scheduled transaction are not automatically
created on startup.  Then, re-open your file and remove the offending
SX.

Please file a bug against this, if you like; the assertion is valid, but
gnucash shouldn't crash quite so painfully.
