Yes, but this is irrelevant.  When you are entering a new line-item on
an invoice it is automatically attached to the invoice once the item
is committed.  In other words, once you leave the line on a new
line-item by tabbing off the end or hitting 'return' it gets attached
and the X is put in there.  You cannot detach the item from the
invoice unless it's attached to something else (but right now there is
nothing else for it to be attached to -- that's functionality that was
never completed).

So again, you're still barking up the wrong tree.
