Starting gconfd-1

Hi,

For some reason, gconfd-1 no longer strarts on my system. Has anyone 
else ever had this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

What happens is that I start the daemon, I get no error message but when 
I loook at the running processes, it isn't there.
