Limit on number of entries?

I saw something likw what you are describing a few years ago. The problem
in my case was that some transactions had become corrupted. ( I think this 
was
related to a problem with scheduled transactions.) I could see that this
was the problem by starting gnucash from a terminal and watching the list
of errors fill the screen. The problem was that the currency was missing from
the transactions.
