Customer reports

I want to print out customer reports - both as a list of customer 
details, and as an itemised report showing transactions.  When I select 
Customer Report I appear to be only able to call up Accounts 
Receivable.  Is there a better way, or do I have to write a custom 
report?  Surely this is a normal accounting requirement?
