How to get rid of saved file

There's no way to do it. Once Gnucash knows about a file, it will
remember it forever until it gets pushed off the stack by others.
Nobody ever wants to delete a real data file, right?
I told you how to fix it; remove the entry from your gconf database.
You can't remove it from the file without first shutting down gconf.
Or you an use the gonf editor UI. But how to edit gconf settings
is WAY out of scope for this list.
