Yes and no.

There is a complete rewrite of the register in progress using the same
GTK2 display widget used by most GTK2/Gnome2 applications.  GnuCash 2.0
uses this display widget for about probably half to two-thirds of the
program (while the rest still uses of old GTK1 widgets).  The next major
release of GnuCash will use this widget 100%, so the register should be
consistent with the rest of GnuCash and all other GTK2/Gnome2
applications.

Any changes made now to the current register display code are
throwaways.  Changes made to the current register logic may or may not
port to the rewritten register.
