Weird AP Report (attached)

Do you have the Bitstream Vera fonts installed in your gnome  
collection? I had a similar problem which was fixed by following the  
advice at http://www.gnome.org/fonts/

My problem was a little more severe, in that many reports would show  
nothing, but some of them did exhibit the 'little rectangles instead  
of letters' symptoms.
