Error compiling gnucash 1.9.6 on FC 5

I'm having a bit of a problem with gnucash 1.9.6 on Fedora Core 5.  I've
searched the mailing list page (great resource - thanks!) and googled,
but nothing so far.

I get to "make" and have the following error:

I've looked in /usr/lib and I have a symbolic link to libltdl.so.3. 
When I run a "yum provides ltdl" I get the guile packages and
courier-auth as well.  All are shown installed.

Obviously I'm missing something fundamental.
