Saving custom reports

I can save custom multicolumn reports?  I thought that bug #104156 prevented me
from doing this?  I wasn't able to figure out exactly what you meant above...
can you elaborate?  If I can save my custom multi-column reports and then just
open them when I want them, this would save me loads of time and headaches. 
Please let me know if/how I can do this.
