Some Problems in using GnuCash

What's printed on the terminal?  (you DID run gnucash from a terminal
window, Right?)

What's printed in /tmp/gnucash.trace?

"lots of warnings and would not go further" isn't useful to me;
could you perhaps copy-and-paste the end of the build process?
