provisions & equity running balance

Not sure what you're asking, but it is no problem to establish different Asset accounts for different purposes. For example

Checking account at institution 1
Checking account at institution 2
Intermediate term assets [like 2-5 year CDs]
Long term assets [house or land]

Naturally you can group or tree these accounts in any way that makes sense for you.

Hi,
I am trying to switch over to gnucash for personal finance, but am a 
little confused about one thing.  I set quite a large fraction of my 
money aside in provisions for future payments.  Thus I need to be able 
to look back at a transaction list and see how each affected my equity 
as a whole.  Do I need to make a customized report for this (probably 
over my head) or am I missing something?
