Build Problem 2.2 Ubuntu Fiesty

Gar!  No, I didn't, thank you very much for the tip!!

I have another problem now - on install I get an error message saying it 
wishes to replace /usr/bin/strip with is in use by binutils.  I don't 
want to screw up my system by forcing install. 

Of course, I am using checkinstall instead of make.   I didn't have any 
problems on Edgy.  Maybe it's a checkinstall problem, I don't know.  
Maybe I should try make?

Any help greatly appreciated,
