If you don't want to wait for 2.2.2, you can get the code changes here:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=99952

You will have to install it yourself, but it's simple. It just replaces a
file named qif-parse.scm that you already have as part of your gnucash
installation. No recompiling, just swap the old qif-parse.scm for the new.
On my system (Windows XP) it sits in C:\Program
Files\gnucash\share\gnucash\scm\qif-import
