I'll point out that I DONT use python, so personally I'm against
it.  But I dont feel that I should block it if the majority of
other developers consider it the best option.

I'm not at all sure what you mean by this.  What do you mean that the
plug-in language should be used for the druids as well?  The druids
are all Glade-generated XML files tied to a C implementation (except
for the QIF importer, which is glade, C, and Scheme).  I don't see
any reason or need to do what I think you're proposing.
