Clarification of Account Compatibility Check

Is there a bug number or more detailed description of this?  I have some 
top-level (place-holder) accounts of type asset that have stock and 
mutual fund sub-accounts.  Are those also now forbidden?  I'm trying to 
figure out how much I have to rearrange before updating....
