OFX import question

Hi, I'm a new user to gnucash, which I think is great, using the latest
gnucash(2.2 i believe) running on win2000; I see this same behavior with
gnucash 2.0.5 on fedora.

    You see, my bank formats the name field incorrectly, truncating
inportant info; the memo field of the ofx transaction is ok. Here is an
example, the check number is cut off in the name field.

    <STMTTRN>
                        <TRNTYPE>DEBIT
                        <DTPOSTED>20070628120000.000
                        <TRNAMT>-216.56
                        <FITID>628072
                        <NAME>Direct Deposit SHELL PAYMENT -63
                        <MEMO>Direct Deposit SHELL PAYMENT -6342 -CHECK PYMT
                    </STMTTRN>

What shows up in gnucash has the check number as 63 rather than 6342. A
minor inconvenience at most.

  Is is possible to change which field in the OFX file gets put into the
description field of the check register during OFX import? It looks like
the name "field" of the OFX data is put into the description field.

I know I can write a shell script to modify prior to import, but ...

Is there a hook in gnucash which would call a script to pre-process the
data.

thanks for a great application,

john ware
