Default configuration files - permissions problem?

I did a trace and found

/var/tmp/gconfd-brad/lock/ior"
27615 gnucash-bin RET open -1 errno 2 No such file or directory

I've tried before to make the gconfd-brad folder more accessible and now
it's perms are wide open (drwxrwxrwx), but still nothing seems to get
written in it. Should I create something in there myself?
