The version of gtk2 shipped with RHEL 4 is too old:

sauron.deepsoft.com% cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS release 4.5 (Final)
sauron.deepsoft.com% rpm -q gtk2
gtk2-2.4.13-22

Maybe you are thinking of RHEL 5?

The latest version of GnuCash for RHEL 4 (in the EFEL repository) is 2.0.5.
