It's not that obvious.  Create the report you want.  Export it - it will 
become an HTML page.  Load the page in your browser, copy all (Ctrl-A, 
Ctrl-C), then Paste Special (that's the critical part) it into an 
OpenOffice.Org spreadsheet.  Save that as a .xls.
