my Quicken will not create a .qif, what can I do?

I am using Microsoft Windows XP Professional V 2002 , Quicken Personal
Plus Release R1 - New Zealand Edition

You don't think you can convert the .qdf file, because it is encrypted.
Only Quicken should be able to understand it. However, there may be
other ways. Are you using a Mac, or Microsoft Windows? Which version of
Quicken are you using?
Since I am not yet willing to abandon 10 years of data.... Any
advice on
how difficult it would be to write my own code to do this? Are the
definitions of the files available? where? etc etc
