Hi,
First I'd like to thank every contributors for this wonderful software
I'm discovering since a few days.
The "Concepts" documentation also is very nice, but I have two
suggestions for change. Could you please give me your thoughts and tell
me if I should introduce a bug report for that or what? (I first thought
I would immediately introduce a bug report for that, but I thought again
when seeing the 866 bugs open...)

In point 2.1.2 The Accounting Equation
(http://www.gnucash.org/docs/v2.0/C/gnucash-guide/basics-accounting1.html#basics-accounting52).
The two given equations can't be both true. Mathematically, this is a
bit shocking. The first one says:
> *Assets - Liabilities = Equity*
which is probably correct, considering that (I guess) Equity is
precisely defined as the difference between Assets and Liabilities.
The second one is then incorrect, and could be written something like
(introducing the time concept):
New-Equity = Old-Equity + Income - Expenses.
Which would yield Old-Assets - Old-Liabilities + Income - Expenses =
New-Assets - New-Liabilities.
This is only a suggestion, naturally. It could be explained differently.
But the way it is explained now is misleading, IMHO. It is difficult, at
first reading, to understand how (Assets - Liabilities) can at the same
time equal (Equity) and (Equity + Income - Expenses).

In point 2.9
(http://www.gnucash.org/docs/v2.0/C/gnucash-guide/basics-together1.html).
"Return to the *Preferences* dialog and change the tool bar buttons back
to the default setting by clicking Use system default. From the column
header row, select Arrow down and select "Type" (which means view column
"Type")."
should be changed to:
"Return to the *Preferences* dialog and change the tool bar buttons back
to the default setting by clicking Use system default. Close the dialog.
Now from the column header row, select Arrow down and select "Type"
(which means view column "Type")."
It took me five minutes to figure out that the "column header row" was
not one of the header rows to be found in the Preferences dialog!
(Admittedly, the fact that I am not a native English speaker may be part
of the problem.)
Question
--
Also a little question: is there a possibility of translating this
document? I could try to provide a (at least partial) translation in
French. But then what? I'd not want to do that if it stays unused and
unpublished. Is there a technical mechanism to automatically track the
changes from one version to an other and provide "default" english
version for the untranslated parts, as in the man-doc linux packages?
Thank you for your help.
Olivier
