2.2.3 hangs on startup

Is it possibly because there is another open window hidden behind he
main one? I noticed on a test setup I have on Windows that the auto-save
dialog had popped up, but it hadn't been brought to the front at all -
it seemed to open behind the two GC windows that were open at the time.
