rearranging accounts - backdoor?

I would edit the QIF files: replace all the categories by the according GNC account. The importer recognises the whole account structure.
A small disadvantage is that there will be no mapping set up between the memo/payee and the accounts during the import process. This needs to be done with your future data.

Subject: rearranging accounts - backdoor?
I'm just getting started w/ gnucash and have imported my data from
quicken. All of the accounts and categories got spread out at the top
level and I'd like to reorganize them as subs under the main accounts
(asset, income, etc). I see how to do this with the GUI, but it's going
to be slow and painful. Is there a file hidden away that I can edit, or
some other way to get at this with a text editor?
