Partial Register Report - how?

I can generate a Register Report for a particular account fairly easily, but I 
can find no way to restrict the dates.  I get every date in the Register.

Do I need to put it through a Search filter first?  My present file is only 
for the current fiscal year, but I want to stop that practice, and I don't 
want every printout to cover several years.
