Opening Balance Question

When we set up GnuCash we entered balances for each of the balance sheet
accounts with an offset to "Opening Balances".  When we compare the
QuickBooks balance sheet to the GnuCash balance sheet GnuCash has
everything the QuickBooks balance sheet has plus the "Opening Balances"
amount.  "Total Liabilities & Equity" amounts agree.  Will the "Opening
Balances" account show forever?
