Combine gnucash files

Hi,
I am using gnucash to maintain my account transactions. My wife is also
using the same for maintaining her transactions. I would like to combine
these two gnucash files. Please let me know how can I do this. If two
gnucash files cannot be directly combined, is there an alternate way of
combining these by exporting to QIF files.
