Importing Bank transactions

Charles,

My bank is Wachovia and I have been downloading transactions via Quicken. I
have been doing this for so many years that I have forgotten how I started.
But I have to believe that it was all managed by Quicken. I was expecting
gnucash to offer me a list of financial institutions so that I could pick
out Wachovia and enter a few things, like my account number. Same for my
broker Scottrade. I have no idea how to do this manually.

Depends on your financial institution. If it was imported directly byyea
Quicken, then it should be possible in GnuCash, provided you can find out
all the information needed to set it up. If you were downloading QIF files
from your financial institution by hand, then you'll have to do the same in
GnuCash.
