configure gnucash 2.2.9

Hi,

I have just upgraded my system from Centos 4.x to Centos 5.2. In doing 
so, I am upgrading my version of gnucash. I have been using it for a few 
years, and it is a wonderful app, thank you so much for your continued 
efforts in it's maintenance! Applogies is this is mentioned on the 
mailing list, but a search has not located any other similar threads.

I have installed guile 1.8.4 (rpm), have slib installed as part of the 
umb-scheme rpm, but am having issues configuring gnucash with these 
other apps.

It doesn't seem to be able to find slib.  The error I get is:
configure: WARNING: Can not find Guile on this system
checking for guile... /usr/local/bin/guile
checking for guile - 1.6.0 <= version < 99.99.99... yes: 1.8.0
checking for guile - 1.8.0 <= version < 99.99.99... yes: 1.8.0
checking for SLIB support... configure: error:

    Cannot find SLIB.  Are you sure you have it installed?

And yet a locate for slib shows :

/usr/lib/umb-scheme/slib

which I have linked to /usr/local/lib/slib
