Where Is Data File? Name & Location?

Hello!
I just downloaded GnuCash & imported my Quicken 2005 data (from a QIF file).
I used the initial import feature that came up with running GnuCash the
first time.
It seemed to import the data fine but when I closed GnuCash and then re-ran
it, I could not find the data file. When I select File-->Open-->Open..., it
defaults to the C:\Program Files\GnuCash\bin directory (I am using Windows
XP).
I do not know what the data file name is or where it is located. I did
discover a number of directories that were created under my C:\Documents and
Settings\<name>\ directory like ".gnucash", ".gconf", ".gnome2", etc.
I searched on Google but could not find anything except about backup files
and logs.
Maybe I'm just being dense, but it seems that GnuCash installs in a
non-Windows standard way. Normally programs create data files and
directories in the "My Documents" directory, or the ...\Application Data
directory, or in the directory they are installed in.
Could someone please help me out by explaining or giving me a URL where file
directory layout for GnuCash as well as where the data files are kept, and
whether they can be relocated to a user-selectable directory.
Thanks in advance!
