Scheduled transactions question

Hello,

I've been using gnucash for a long time, and I just recently concluded
that there might just be a bug in the 2.x version of scheduled
transactions:

Values for the various splits are stored as strings.

The problem with that is that if I open my gnucash file on a computer
whose default method to display numbers is different than another,
then the scheduled transactions cannot work.

For example, I normally use numbers that look like "1 234,56", and
that's what is stored in my scheduled transactions. My travel computer
was set up in US localization, and my scheduled transactions didn't
function properly when gnucash (2.2.9) expected US formatting
("1,234.56").

I'm holding off on the bug report for now, because I seem to remember
that it didn't work that way in the old scheduled transactions module
(from 1.8.x); is there a good reason to store these numbers as strings?

Thanks,
