Problem with Mac OS/X gnucash 2.2.9 on Tiger (OS/X 10.4)

Hi

Downloaded the Mac OS/X version from 
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/gnucash/Gnucash-2.2.9.dmg.

Installed fine, with no complaints, would not startup and in the error 
log it reported:

The version of libiconv that I have is 1.12-3 (Fink). Snooped around and 
found the following post: 
http://www.omnigroup.com/mailman/archive/macosx-dev/2008-February/060928.html 
that describes a similar problem and indicates it is generic to apps 
built on Leopard with Tiger compatibility.

Has anyone successfully run the version from SourceForge on Tiger/Intel? 
Any suggestions?
