End of Year procedure

Write your datafile to a CD-ROM?

Seriously, no, there's no way to do that.  Even if GnuCash did try to
enforce that, there's no way to stop a user from going into the data
file and changing the entries directly.

If you want an archive then write your data file to a write-only media
like a CDROM and store it for later.
